What's new in the haus?

Bauhaus Bob

Have you ever wondered where in the world the name BAUHAUS came from? It’s hard to spell and hard to pronounce, so why did Sarah Kennison choose to call her salon Bauhaus  15 years ago?

Sarah first heard the name Bauhaus while studying art at McNeese State University (Geaux Pokes!). In an art history class, she learned of an art school in Germany called “Bauhaus"  that was operational from 1919 to 1933. The school was made famous for its take on modern art and design using crafts and fine art.  The movement  even housed some of Sarah's favorite pieces. She heard the name again when she was attending Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy in California, getting advanced training as a hair cutter and colorist. In one of her advanced cutting courses, she fell in love with one of Sassoon’s most famous collections: “Vidal Sassoon and the Bauhaus,” also known as “The Bauhaus Bob.”  The name stuck out to her, and when her best friend Madeleine  randomly suggested that she name her salon Bauhaus, she knew it was meant to be.  Her love for modern art and hair was now perfectly blended under the roof of her salon.

Bauhaus is a name that you won't forget - even if you don’t quite know how to pronounce it! /ˈbaʊhaʊs/ Stay tuned for more things to come from our blog.
